No Animal Cruelty Please!

Hey, folks! It's been a while since I last updated myself on animal cruelty following the completion of my presentation last year. So, today, I visited the Animals Australia website to check out some news. It's really a fulfilling read as I have gotten myself much knowledge. I was truly struck by how Animals Australia described factory farming: "These facilities are literally animal prisons where tragically the victims are the ones who are behind bars." Well, who would have realised that? But it is, somehow, very true! As I read on to find out more, I met Lucy, the campaign pig! Oh, she's such a sweetheart! Lucy Pig is an ambassador of Animals Australia who is on a mission to save her family and friends from suffering by raising awareness of factory farming among consumers. She literally travels around Australia ---- she has visited Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Tasmania ---- and delivers letters to supermarket managers to urge them to end factory farming! In her blog, Lucy mentioned that Sir Paul McCartney once said that "If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian." Well, yeah, I totally agree! If that could help end the sufferings of all animals raised in factory farms, I would say, that's a great idea! Here's something you might not know. I learnt from Lucy that "raising animals for food is one of the largest contributors to global warming"! So, if any of you out there who are taking action against, or even care to think about, global warming, then you should definitely fight against animal cruelty! Don't worry! If you have no idea where to begin, go and visit the Animals Australia website first. You will find out loads about the ought-to-know secret of the industry that have long been kept safely away from us consumers. Then, you might want to know what Lucy is up to all these while. Well, you can check her out on her blog and become a fan of Lucy Pig's Campaign Trail on Facebook! Come on, people! It's time to take action to fight for the rights of those helpless animals! Let's banish animal cruelty and give way to animal welfare!

A Wonderful Evening

I had a wonderful dinner last night! For appetizer, I had tomato soup with croutons. Yum yum! The garlic bread was most probably the best I had ever had! Then, I had a bit of lamb, some veges and a teenee tiny portion of lasagne as main dish. Well, in case you find the combination kinda weird, it was a buffet. So, basically, I took what I wanted. Oh, I tell you, they were all so delicious! It's dessert time! I gulped down a few pieces of fruits before I struggled to fill my already very full stomach with those unavoidable ice-cream!!! Urgh, after the whole thing, my stomach felt like it was going to burst! But, I couldn't help it! I mean, it was ice-cream! You can't expect me to skip that! XD

Wind back the time a little, I went for gym before going for spa. As usual, I warmed up and hit the stepper. But then, I also did something out of the blue after that. I did some sit-ups, which I had been very reluctant to do. I'm not really sure whether it was the right way or if it worked but I certainly hope it did! Following that, I had nothing left to do so I decided to give the treadmill a try. I heard that it could drive spare tires away, that's why! As a beginner, I did not run as I wanted to, first, get used to the treadmill. Instead, I walked for 25 minutes. It was definitely a good workout, though! After all the hard work, I treated myself to spa. Truly relaxing...! So, that's it! I took a warm bath, ate dinner and went home...

The Most Amazing Story Ever!

Haha! At this time, I should be revising for the external exam, I know. But this is simply too difficult to resist. I feel I must write this down, as if afraid that this thought of mine at this moment will be forgotten in time to come.

By now, I've been reading the book, The Time Traveler's Wife, for months. Having to deal with homework and exams, I've been doing my best to read and, most importantly, finish the book as soon as possible. So, it's not a new thing that I love this book. I have been loving this book ever since I caught hold of it for the first time in the library . You would know how skilful Audrey Niffenegger is by my perseverance in finishing the book. More often than not, I would easily give up a book, mostly unfinished, when the expiry date comes. But I really felt an intense reluctance when this book is concerned!

Having written this, I have once again fell in love with the book. I have just come upon a stage in the story where the saddest part, which is also the most touching part, is. And it dawns on me that this story is more than simply amazing! Yeah, I know. It would be very hard for you to imagine how amazing, regardless of the number of times I repeat, unless you read it yourself. If you do, I warn you, it's gonna touch every single crevice in your heart. It's something beyond the real world, of course, as seen from the title of the book. But, it truly ain't a typical time-travel kind of story. That's why I'm writing this down, because I sincerely admire Audrey Niffenegger's more-than-awesome creativity, how it managed to thrive so far beyond nature! Being able to time-travel intensifies the love between Clare Abshire and Henry DeTamble, apart from enabling it to be long-lasting, of course! Do you know how wonderful it is to be able to see your husband again so many years after he died? Mind you, it's not his ghost! A younger Henry time-travelled to a time when Clare is 82 years old, 47 years after Henry died. Pity her, it's been a long, hard anticipation. But, for love, it's worth it!

So, that's about it! Hopefully, I'll be able to finish up the book before graduation! Hehe!

May God Bless Gramp

I received a bad news today that poor Gramp is ill again. My heart instantly sank as I heard it. He could have just recovered from the recent injury but luck wasn't on his side now that he's confronted with yet another problem. It wasn't stated certainly what it was. He was only told to admit into hospital tomorrow. It's already bad enough not being able to be by his side but all I could do is pray that he would be fine. I hope that there's more people to join my prayer to plead with God that he would fully recover and be in the pink of health again in no time! Also, I hope that Gran would not be excessively worried and that she would take good care of her own health as well! May God bless them~! (Fingers crossed)

The Gift of A Friend

Thanks to Fiona, again, for giving me an inspiration for the second time. She got me thinking about the cliche, "a friend in need is a friend indeed" and later on make up a version of my own - a friend who knows you're in need before yourself is a friend indeed.

Well, it was all about an unanticipated favour she did for me. It began raining the night before yesterday and apparently through the wee hours until the morning of yesterday. It was almost time for school but the sky didn't show any sign that the rain was going to stop soon. My phone rang, to my surprise, and it turned out to be from my mentee. Being an even bigger surprise, she offered to fetch me to school!

You may deem that this is nothing. But, really, who could be more thoughtful than her? She even intended to fetch Eadelyn, a classmate of ours who also walks to school. Apparently, she's one of the best friends in the world! She made my effort to strengthen this friendship worthwhile. I would, hereby, like to dedicate the song "Gift of A Friend" by Demi Lovato to this best friend of mine, Fiona, as an appreciation of our friendship. I hope you like it. Enjoy!

Sweet Heaven~

It is commonly believed that sweet foods can relieve sadness. So, I looked up these pics. Inviting, aren't they? & look at that doggie (utterly adorable!), it enjoys ice-cream as much as I do, I bet!
